This beginning basic portrait class will lay some simple groundwork
for the student to begin the process of drawing the human face.
Working from photographs, we will learn how to use the different
value shades of pencils, how to create effects with the eraser,
why the type of paper used is so important, as well as some very
basic anatomy. They may then take this information further with
more classes or expand upon them at home on their own. Small supply

In this two day class we will combine more traditional painting
techniques with collage to produce pieces with texture and depth.
Beginning with an underpainting on your surface of choice, see
your work develop richness, depth and contrast with the addition
of papers, acrylics, inks and other materials. This is also an
excellent opportunity to incorporate realistic elements and imagery
and further develop unfinished watercolor or acrylic paintings.

Learn about the history of Encaustics. You will explore fusing
techniques with beeswax, using different heating tools such as
a heat gun, torch and flat iron. I will cover texture, inlay and
collage techniques. You will work on your own projects at your
own pace and will have one finished painting, maybe two, depending
on how you work. If you bring photos, make sure they are toner-based
photo copies (not ink jet). I will have a large assortment of
papers and collage items, and you can bring some of your own too
like buttons, leaves, etc. Come try Encaustics, well have
some fun! Supplies included.

business hours, registration requires a Visa or MasterCard
payment.
- In person: You are welcome to register at Art Department
during business hours.
Students must pre-register and pay the full amount to reserve
a space in the desired class or workshop. Minimum enrollment
must be met to make a class a go. So to avoid
disappointment, please register early!
Class will be cancelled three business days prior to the
first day of the first class IF the student minimum
is not met.
REFUND POLICY: If a class is cancelled due to low
enrollment or other unforeseen circustances, a full refund
will be given. Withdrawals made more than five days prior
to the first class session, will be issued a full refund
minus a $10 registration processing fee. Withdrawals made
five days or less, prior to the first class session, will
NOT be refunded or credited.
