Start Parading! First Friday Puppet Production and Holiday Parade Info
Downtown Salem Holiday Parade
It's been a long time since Salem has hosted a downtown parade and it's happening in November! The First Annual Children’s Parade will weave its way through our downtown streets, ending at Court St with a team of Victorian Carolers to kick off the holidays in style! Invite your friends and family. The more, the merrier!
Join the Art Department Small Business Saturday, Nov 26 from 4:45pm-5:15pm to get ready for the parade. We'll meet in the Concrete Gallery/classroom (knock at our back door in the alleyway) and we will make our way together to the start of the parade at Court street between High and Church Streets after 5:15. The parade will be nonmotorized with no pets (except service animals). It will be 7 blocks total, with a tree-lighting ceremony at the end.
And make sure to RSVP to the parade! This info goes directly to the Main Street Salem Association since they are planing the event. However if you want to email us, so we know you are coming please do so!
Puppet and Mask Chat
Want to know what is involved in creating a 22-foot mega puppet? Check out the process on First Friday 5-8pm during the @salemartwalk at the Art Department. We will chat about the upcoming parade, trouble shoot creations, and have free giveaways every half an hour. We look forward to seeing you soon!
