Then Spring Comes is a show of colorful paintings about hope, growth, and long-waited warmth. The subject matter includes the natural world, the sky, plants, and light. Ellie's work often has to do with paths, routines, the body and its surroundings, and hope. She is always searching for glimmers of light within the mundane, like how evening light creates so much magic as it streams into our neighborhoods and homes. This daily search became especially important in the isolated routines since COVID. The images in her paintings come from memory, from commutes, walks, and hours spent scrolling online. When everything comes together, the collective paintings will honor the long-awaited spring, a return of warmth, growth, and color.
