Claire first picked up a paint brush at age 55, never having done visual art before in her life. Her first painting class was at the Art Department, it happened to be watercolor and she fell in love with the medium.
Claire is “self-taught” in that she never went to art school, but learned on the mean streets of YouTube and in-person classes around Salem. As a total novice to begin with, she understands first hand the exciting and frustrating process of acquiring new skills as an adult. Before retirement, she taught many subjects to adults in a variety of settings, so is adept at breaking down the learning process into manageable steps.
As a recovering perfectionist, Claire has found loose watercolors to offer amazing life lessons in letting go and non-attachment.
