The Sumi Set by Yasutomo features a basic traditional set for beginners. Grind the Sumi ink stick along the Suzuri stone with water to create your ink. This process produces the monochromatic shades of black created in Sumi-e painting. Bamboo brushes contain two main components - stiffer inner bristles in a tapered point and outer layer of softer hairs for ink capacity. This bristle combination produces smooth, dynamic strokes with both light or heavy pressure. This Sumi Set contains 2 sizes of bamboo brushes, a Sumi ink stick, and Suzuri ink grinding stone in a convenient paper box.
