Mixed media is a wild goose chase down a twisted rabbit hole. It involves a series of what if questions: what if I glued this down, drew a line over the top, added some paint, glued something else down, and then sanded a portion, added more paint, made marks, then started over. Working loosely and intuitively, we will use scraps of wallpaper, worn ephemera, hand painted papers that we create, and materials scavenged from discarded books, we will create a deck of 25 collages on 4x6-inch mat board pieces. Creating these collages is a wild cacophony of cutting, tearing, drawing, gluing, painting, writing, scraping, sanding, layering, and revealing.

Optional:
- Golden Semi-Gloss Soft Gel
- Good paper cutting scissors
- Acrylic paint: a red, a blue, a yellow, white, and black (cheaper paints okay; can be fluid or tube paint)
- Brayer (can be hard or soft)
- ¾" or 1” brush (not an expensive one)
- Thin-tipped black and white POSCA markers (1M or 3M)
- Palette paper 9x12 inches
- X-acto knife with fresh blade
- Water container
- A magazine or catalog to use as “glue” paper
Optional:
- Cutting mat (I’ll bring a couple of mine to use)
- A small stack of your own papers, vintage paper, ie typewritten, handwritten, ephemera (bring what you have, I bring a lot to share)
- Stencils
- Mark-making pencils, markers, etc.
- IF you have a five-pound bag of rice, please bring it
