Do you ever wish you would sketch more but you just don't feel comfortable enough with your skills, especially in public? Join Katy Vigeland for this one-day workshop where we will turn down the volume of that inner critic and have some fun drawing in our sketchbooks ALL DAY LONG!
While we sketch, we will explore different pens, markers, and watercolor or gouache to discover how each medium is special. We will try different styles of drawing, including contour, working on a colored ground, establishing values, and adding color and pattern. There will be new exercises if you have taken this class before. Plus we will venture out to a public location to sketch. Note: Bring a sack lunch and a bit of cash in case the weather drives us inside a coffee shop.

- 1 Black Waterproof Bold brush or bullet style Pen (Pitt brush nib, or Dual Marker OR Micron Grafix 1).

1 Black pigmented waterproof ink pen. Choose any 1 of these types:
Pitt Pens: F or M
Micron: 05, 08, or PN
Copic Multiliner: .5 or .7 - 2 or more Colored brush pens (Pitt, Tombow, Copic, etc.)
- 1 set or at least 3 Gray brush-tip markers in the lighter range, choose all warm or all cool: (Pitt, Tombow, Copic, etc.)
- Fountain Pen, any color with water-soluble ink, Zebra, Pilot Varsity, etc.

1 White Gelly Roll Pen size 10 (Bold)
- Small watercolor set 8-12 colors or gouache set
- 1 Waterbrush size Medium or Large.
- Watercolor Brush Size 5,6,7, or 8, or a combination of both.
- 1 UHU Glue Stic
- 1 or 2 Sketchbooks with at least 15-20 blank pages, 5.5X8, to 9x9. New or used. One must be heavy enough (90# or more) to accept watercolor. Smaller sketchbooks weigh less and you are more likely to take them. Here are a few I like:
- Stillman and Birn Alpha or Beta Mixed Media, 7x7 is my favorite.
- Strathmore Visual Journal,
- Mixed Media, 5.5x8 is my favorite
- Bee Paper Super Deluxe Sketchbook 9x9 is my favorite
