Class FAQs/Cancelation Policy

This class has something for everybody! Detail work, loose strokes, flat washes, wet-in wet, creating texture, color-mixing, shadows—the perfect way to learn/practice foundational watercolor techniques as Claire guides you step-by-step through the sea turtle painting. If you’re not comfortable drawing, transfer techniques will be explained (make sure you buy transfer paper). Hope to see you in the New Year!

Supply List

Note: All regular-priced supplies are available at 20% off from Art Department for this class.

Paints
I used: Cobalt Blue, French Ultramarine, Yellow OchreCadmium Yellow, and Burnt Umber. Please bring to class the best quality paint you can afford, either artist or student grade. Windsor Newton and Daniel Smith have great introductory pans or tube sets, or you can buy individual tubes from any reputable brand.

Paper
The best paper is 100% cotton, cold press, 300 gsm, 140 lb. Size 9x12 for this project. Loose paperblocks or pads are all fine. You can also use partial cotton or all pulp paper, cold press, 300 gsm, 140 lb., size 9x12.

Brushes
One large round brush size 12-14; one smaller brush around size 3-6.

Other Supplies
Palette with large mixing space
Two large containers for water
