If you have past experience with acrylic painting and would like to develop an abstract approach to a subject, please join us. We will explore the elements of art as they apply to the language of painting: color, line, shape, texture. We will ask questions: “How can I abstract what I see?” “What are the four main types of abstraction?” “How can I be more playful and expressive?” We will complete two paintings. Group critiques will help give constructive feedback and encouragement.
Projects:
Day 1: Color and value; abstraction through simplification
Day 2: arbitrary use of color, line and surface texture
