Class FAQs/Cancelation Policy

Have you ever longed to paint beautiful flowers, pollinators, or still life in vivid detail? This class will allow participants to learn some watercolor realism basics, with beautiful color and transparent painting techniques. The subject matter will reflect a garden theme. Appropriate for beginners or intermediate artists wanting to learn realism or painting on a different surface. Please note, there is no need to be accomplished at drawing to take this course. The emphasis will be on painting. Transfer drawing techniques will be utilized. This will be a time to get acquainted with the process in a low-pressure environment and have fun to boot!

In this class, we will learn to paint watercolor on cradled birch boards, as an alternative to painting on paper. This class will have an emphasis on realism. Electronic and printed photos will be provided.

On Sunday afternoon, Sherree will do a demonstration of how to finish and wax your paintings once they have had time to dry.

Supply List

Required:

Note: All regular priced supplies are available at 20% off from Art Department for this class.

5x7 American Easel cradled birch watermedia panel (be certain to get this specific item). You may want to bring two in case you find you are finished early. However, this type of painting typically takes longer and we will allow time for instruction and conversation as that’s part of what makes the class so much fun!

Professional Quality Watercolor paint is required. Please do not bring student-grade, otherwise known as Cotman paint. Your results will be less successful.

Experienced artists are welcome to bring their own selection of professional-grade watercolor paints. Those just learning or not wanting to make the investment: Indian Yellow and Sap Green are not a must but may be helpful for less work in mixing colors, depending upon the image painted.

My paint pallet includes:

Additional Supplies you will need:

Please note: Sherree will use Dorland’s Wax Medium and some acrylic paint to complete her demonstration painting. This is not required for the class, but you may want some to finish yours at home later.
