Watercolor is a notoriously tricky medium, but the essentials taught in this class will open the door to a more satisfying painting experience and better results for both newbies and frustrated intermediates. We’ll practice techniques and I’ll guide you through some completed paintings. From color mixing to glazing, water control and the importance of edges, paper to brushes, this class will unveil the mysteries of loose watercolor painting in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Supply List

Note: All regular-priced supplies are available at 20% off from Art Department for this class.

Paper:

100% cotton watercolor paper, cold press, in any format and size (a pad, a block, or big sheet cut down into nothing smaller than 5x7).

Paint:

At least three primary colors (yellow/red/blue) in tubes or pans, professional or student grade. (Example: Cadmium yellow/Cadmium red/Cobalt Blue; OR Lemon Yellow/Cerulean Blue/Permanent Rose).

Brushes:

One size 12 round & one size 6 round; a one inch flat

Other:

Palette,

Paper towels, 

two containers for water,

spray bottle,

a board and artists tape to tape down your paper (if you don’t have paper in a block),
